The Best Gifts In Life Are Not Things

If you are anything like me, then you want to get back to the true meaning of Christmas, and ditch all the crazy consumerism surrounding the holidays.

I like my holiday season the way I like my lifestyle…consumerism free, down to earth, and authentically connective.

In fact, we left the big city life and moved our family out to live our farming dreams. There is no way you will see me in a mall around Christmas time….or anytime really!

Christmas has become BIG BUSINESS in America, and as a regenerative farmer I am by nature the exact opposite of that.

My “rebellious” nature is reflected in my gift giving style as well.

After all, the best gifts in life are not things. That is why I choose to ditch holiday consumerism and gift experience instead!

Here are my 4 top reasons why:

  1. Material possessions do not bring someone more happiness in the long run. Experiences create a happy memory that will last a lifetime.
  2. The excitement that is built around an experience is greater than the hype that can come from a physical gift. This also prolongs the excitement around what you plan to do, before, during and after.
  3. It creates a deep bond with the people that are involved in the activity, especially for children.
  4. It’s something different from the norm. Engrained within our society is this need for physical possessions around holidays, giving the gift of an experience is unique and refreshing!

Need an experiential gift idea? Give the gift of local farm fresh food!

Okay, okay, I know as a farmer of course I just had to say it. But, it’s because I honestly believe it’s one of the best gifts!

  • It’s waste free
  • Supports local businesses
  • Eco Friendly
  • Fits any dietary needs
  • Unique and thoughtful
  • The list can go on and on!

If you have a hard to buy for person in your life, this is the gift for them!

How can you take that experiential gift to the next level?

  • Try ordering a unique cut like organ meat or a fancy expensive food you have never had before for an adventurous or decadent meal experience.
  • Schedule a time to cook the food together, connect and make a lasting memory.
  • Go really over the top for the foodie in your life and gift them a big deep freezer to go with their order of farm fresh food!

The sky is the limit with how creative you would like to get. But one thing is for sure, an experiential gift will be something they will never forget!

Gift cards and bundles from Wolf Oak Farm make it super easy to give the gift of experience this holiday season!

Happy Holiday Shopping

The Truth About Cow Farts and Climate Change: Why Grassfed Cows are Different

Cows have long been blamed for their contribution to climate change, with many attributing this to their flatulence (AKA farts.) However, the reality is that cow farts are just one aspect of a much larger issue: methane emissions. In fact, according to the EPA, methane accounts for approximately 10% of all greenhouse gas emissions in the United States. So where do cows fit into this equation?

What Do mRNA Vaccines Mean for Our Meat and Dairy Supply?

As the use of mRNA vaccines in livestock, unfortunately, becomes closer and closer to reality, many consumers and experts have expressed concerns about their safety. The potential negative impacts range from an unforeseen reaction to food products produced with mRNA vaccines - to disruption of ecosystems and biodiversity caused by its widespread usage. The debate surrounding the implications of using mRNA vaccines is ongoing, but it's clear that this technology raises important questions about resources, ethics, health, and sustainability. But how do we make sure these issues are addressed?

Q: What do you get when you combine Radical Honesty and FOOD? A: A Recipe for Change!

This year, we're taking our honesty to a whole new level - Radical Honesty...because it's time to stir up some much-needed change!    From now on, we will cultivate meaningful connections, foster trust, and have honest conversations - no matter how difficult.   We are done with the cutesy posts of mushrooms, logs, and grass swaying in the wind.   It's time to be open and honest; we're not here to put on a show, we'd rather speak our truth.   Like it or not, there is an important message that needs to be heard - and we're ready to put it all out there.   Let’s start by getting real with ourselves: Food insecurity is real and we need to break the taboo of talking about FOOD.
